- Students in the Agroecology Concentration learn how agriculture
affects ecosystems, through courses on plants, plant pests, ecology,
and environmental issues. The Agroecology Concentration addresses ecologically
based management of cropping systems, stewardship of the environment,
and sustainable food production systems.

Agroecology Concentration Curriculum
- Biological Sciences
- The Biological Sciences Concentration is designed for students who
plan to do graduate study or who want professional positions that require
more basic science than is included in the other Crop Sciences concentrations.
Basic sciences courses offered by the Department of Crop Sciences and
by other departments of the university are emphasized. Students follow
a first year program of science and general education requirements
similar to students in other Crop Sciences concentrations. Programs
for the second, third and fourth year are planned in consultation with
the student's faculty advisor in the area of biological sciences.

- Crop Agribusiness
- Students in the Crop Agribusiness Concentration learn about agronomic
production and business management through courses in crop sciences,
soils, and agricultural and consumer economics. Crop Agribusiness applies
the principles of crop production in a business setting. Students develop
a broad appreciation for plant production by studying entomology, plant
pathology, weed science and soils. The agribusiness courses help students
develop business skill in management, marketing, and finance.
